The company gets its logs from species that include American black walnut, red oak, white oak, soft maple, hard maple, pecan, ash, and cottonwood from Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Oklahoma, and Nebraska. Its plant in St. Joseph, Missouri, plant annually produces more than 3 million board ft. of lumber. Subsidiary Dyrnamic Research Technologies produces handgun and rifle ammunition for hunting and law enforcement. Other offerings include export packaging and in-house freight forwarding. The firm traces its roots to 1889. American Walnut Company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in July 2010.
