Cleco Corp. is an energy services company based in central Louisiana. We have been in business since 1934, and throughout our years of service, we have perfected the basics of a successful electric utility business: reasonable rates, reliable service and customer focus.Our two primary businesses are Cleco Power LLC, a regulated electric utility business serving approximately 277,000 customers in Louisiana, and Cleco Midstream Resources LLC, a wholesale energy business.Today, Cleco Power operates four power plants with 3,803 megawatts of *nameplate generating capacity and owns 2,532 megawatts of this capacity.Through Cleco Midstream Resources, our wholesale energy business, we operate one wholesale power plant with 775 megawatts of nameplate generating capacity.We use a mixture of western coal, petroleum coke (petcoke), lignite, oil, and natural gas to serve our customers. It invests in various power generating assets, including nuclear, pumped storage, coal-red, hydro, wind, and biomass. In addition, the company engages in the provision of engineering services; retail of electricity and gas; and storage of gas. As of December 31, 2009, it generated 6,908 megawatts of electricity; had interests in approximately 13,000 kilometers of transmission and high voltage distribution lines; and served 2.3 million customers. The company was founded in 1901 and is based in Kowloon, Hong Kong.

Cobb Electric Membership Corporation (Cobb EMC) makes sure that Cobb County, Georgia residents can cook corn on the cob (and anything else) using electric power and natural gas. The utility distributes electricity to about 196,000 residential, commercial, and industrial customers in Cobb County and four other north metro Atlanta counties. Cobb EMC operates about 10,400 miles of power lines. Its Cobb Energy Management unit is a for-profit affiliate that provides administrative and labor services to Cobb EMC and offers phone, Internet, and natural gas options for Cobb EMC's customers primarily through subsidiaries.

In 1976 the cooperative changed its name from Colquitt County Rural Electric Company to Colquitt EMC. The utility is the largest EMC in south Georgia with some of the lowest electric rates in the state.There's no quit in the electric service to Colquitt and surrounding counties in Georgia, thanks to Colquitt Electric Membership Corporation (Colquitt EMC). The consumer-owned non-profit utility distributes electricity to more than 41,000 members in Berrien, Brooks, Colquitt, Cook, Lowndes, Tift, and Worth counties. Colquitt EMC distributes electricity via more than 8,020 miles of power line.
