It provides both individual and commercial products and half of its customers are farmers. Lines include homeowners insurance (including coverage for thatched-roof houses), auto insurance, pet and horse insurance, and farm and tractor insurance. Dedicated agents distribute NFU Mutual's insurance products. The company also provides pension and investment products sold through financial consultants. NFU Mutual's roots reach back to 1910, when it was formed to lure local farmers to join the farmers' union.
