The Reading Hospital and Medical Center
The Reading Hospital and Medical Center does treat patients in Berks County, Pennsylvania and the surrounding area. The not-for-profit medical center provides acute care and rehabilitation programs, as well as behavioral and occupational health services. Specialty units include cancer, cardiovascular, weight management, diabetes, orthopedic, trauma, and women's health centers. The Reading Hospital and Medical Center was founded in 1868 as The Reading Dispensary. In addition to the main hospital, the center operates six other medical centers in nearby communities and imaging centers throughout its region. In total, its facilities have about 830 beds.
