St. Mary's Medical Center of Evansville, Inc.

St. Mary's Medical Center of Evansville is a 400-bed hospital serving Evansville, Indiana, and surrounding communities. It is the primary facility in Indiana's regional St. Mary's Health System, which is in turn part of Ascension Health. The health system includes St. Mary's Hospital for Women & Children (100 beds), St. Mary's Warrick (a 25-bed hospital in Boonville, Indiana), and specialty outpatient, surgical, cancer, and home health units. The Evansville-based hospital was originally a Marine Hospital built by the US government. When the government shuttered its doors, city business leaders bought the building in 1872 and partnered with the Daughters of Charity to operate a community hospital.
