Loyally protecting Shytown's health through a network of teaching hospitals and clinics is Loyola University Health System (LUHS), part of Loyola University. The flagship property of the private Jesuit Catholic network is an 800-licensed-bed institution that includes the Loyola University Medical Center campus (with its Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center, the Ronald McDonald Children's Hospital of Loyola, Burn/Trauma Center, and Center for Heart & Vascular Medicine) and the 36-acre Gottlieb Hospital campus. LUHS also operates a network of specialty and primary care clinics in Chicago's western and southwestern suburbs. The system has been providing health care to the region for more than 35 years.
