Lifespan Corporation
Lifespan Corporation helps to increase the longevity of the residents of Rhode Island. Founded in 1994, the multi-hospital health system includes the state's largest acute care facility, Rhode Island Hospital. Rhode Island Hospital has about 720 beds and provides general and advanced medical-surgical care in a wide range of specialties, including organ transplantation, neurosurgery, and orthopedics. It also performs biomedical research in areas such as cancer and vascular disease. Rhode Island Hospital and its sister facility, the 250-bed Miriam Hospital, serve as teaching facilities for Brown University's medical school.
