World Heart Corporation
World Heart develops VADs (ventricular assist devices) that can be implanted within the chest cavity next to the natural heart. Through the transcutaneous energy and information transfer (TEIT) system, electric power is used to monitor and control the heart. The devices are used as a bridging device for patients awaiting a transplant and for long-term support. World Heart's main product is the Novacor LVAS. The company has facilities in the US, the Netherlands, and Canada. World Heart is developing next-generation VAD products.
