The not-for-profit Kadlec Regional Medical Center, founded in 1944, has some 200 inpatient beds, including pediatrics and intensive, intermediate, and critical care capacity. The Kennedy Health System was founded in 1965 as John F. Kennedy Hospital. The Kennedy Health System operates three acute care hospitals with more than 600 beds in southern interior New Jersey. Its operations include several outpatient centers and wellness programs, cancer care, dialysis centers, primary care facilities, and a nursing home. Its outpatient services are vast and varied. They range from ambulance and medical transport and its group of Balance Centers (to treat dizziness and balance problems) to sleep centers, and occupational therapy. The system is affiliated with the University of New Jersey Medical and Dental School.

A member of the Care New England Health System, Kent Hospital opened in 1951 with 90 beds. Today the hospital has more than 350 beds and a staff of nearly 500 doctors. The hospital replaced retiring CEO Mark Crevier (who served in that position for nearly 25 years) with Sandra Coletta in 2008. Coletta was previously COO at The Miriam Hospital in Providence.
