Jupiter has another important bigtime resident who's outta this world -- or at least its services are. Jupiter Medical Center consists of a nearly 160-bed, not-for-profit hospital and a 120-bed, sub-acute long-term care facility in Jupiter, Florida (just north of West Palm Beach). Specialty services include cancer treatment, cardiology, orthopedics, emergency medicine, wound care, birthing, and pain management. The hospital is affiliated with the University of Miami's Miller School of Medicine. Established in 1956 as the convalescence center for a retirement village, the medical center was transformed into a full-service acute-care hospital in 1979.

The not-for-profit Kadlec Regional Medical Center, founded in 1944, has some 200 inpatient beds, including pediatrics and intensive, intermediate, and critical care capacity. Kadlec Regional Medical Center is an acute care hospital facility serving southeastern Washington and northeastern Oregon. In addition to providing comprehensive medical, surgical, and emergency services, the hospital operates a freestanding diagnostic center that features state-of-the-art imaging equipment. Other programs include neonatal intensive care, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, interventional cardiology, neurology, and cancer care.

Kaleida Health provides a kaleidoscope of services to residents of western New York. The health system operates five acute care hospitals including Buffalo General Hospital (its largest facility with about 510 beds), The Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo, DeGraff Memorial Hospital, Millard Fillmore Gates Circle Hospital, and Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital. Community health care needs are met through a network of about 100 medical clinics. Kaleida Health also operates skilled nursing care facilities and provides home health care through its Visiting Nursing Association. To help train future medical professionals, Buffalo General Hospital is a teaching affiliate of the State University of New York.

Kane Community Hospital, founded in 1929, also provides primary care to residents of northwestern Pennsylvania through its hospital-based clinics. The 40-bed acute care hospital provides services that include cardiology, emergency care, general surgery, oncology, and women's care. Kane Community Hospital has an affiliation with the larger Hamot Medical Center (which has about 350 beds) through which the two organizations share resources and training, as well as physician recruitment opportunities. Additionally, their combined size allows them cut back on operating costs by purchasing supplies in volume.

The Kennedy Health System was founded in 1965 as John F. Kennedy Hospital. The Kennedy Health System operates three acute care hospitals with more than 600 beds in southern interior New Jersey. Its operations include several outpatient centers and wellness programs, cancer care, dialysis centers, primary care facilities, and a nursing home. Its outpatient services are vast and varied. They range from ambulance and medical transport and its group of Balance Centers (to treat dizziness and balance problems) to sleep centers, and occupational therapy. The system is affiliated with the University of New Jersey Medical and Dental School.
