Somanetics Corporation
Somanetics sells the INVOS System, a noninvasive device that monitors blood oxygen levels in the brain, primarily during surgery. Based on Somanetics' in vivo optical spectroscopy (INVOS) technology, the device's disposable SomaSensors and Oxyalert sensors attach to each side of the patient's forehead, and the firm's proprietary software displays oxygen levels on a computer screen. The company sells the INVOS System through a direct sales force in the US and through distributors abroad such as Covidien and Edwards Lifesciences. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Covidien.
