Micrus Endovascular Corporation
Micrus makes microcoils to help prevent strokes. The company develops implantable and disposable medical devices, specifically its microcoils and accessory products such as microcatheters and guidewires, used to treat cerebral aneurysms and other cerebral vascular diseases. Physicians can use the microcoils to build scaffolds within an aneurysm to stabilize the blood flow to the brain. The catheterization procedure is less invasive and less expensive than other forms of surgery and aims to give patients a shorter recovery time. Micrus sells its products directly in North America and Europe and through distributors in other countries. The company was acquired by Johnson & Johnson in 2010.
