MTS Medication Technologies gives pills a safe home until they get to the patient who needs them. Through its MTS Packaging Systems and MTS Medication Technologies International subsidiaries, the company makes medication punch cards and other medication dispensing systems that institutional pharmacies use to conveniently and accurately package the drugs they give to patients. MTS' custom packaging technology allows caregivers at some 4,500 pharmacies (at assisted-living, nursing care, and correctional facilities) to administer medicine or vitamins to large numbers of people while keeping close tabs on dosages. The company was taken private in a transaction led by equity firm Excellere Partners in 2009.

National Dentex Corporation designs and makes dental prosthetic devices. Its products fall into three categories: restorative (crowns and bridges), reconstructive (partial and full dentures), and cosmetic (porcelain veneers and ceramic crowns). The devices are made from impressions, models, and X-rays submitted by dentists. The firm serves roughly 24,000 dentists from about 40 dental laboratories in the US and Canada. Each NDX lab operates under its own name and has a local sales staff. NDX was taken private in 2010 after being acquired by dental and orthodontic firm GeoDigm Corporation in a deal valued at about $100 million.

Natus Medical designs and manufactures audiological and neurological diagnostic and screening products. While the company's focus has historically been on infants (newborn hearing screening, neonatal monitoring), it has expanded its product line to include an array of screening and diagnostic systems for use with older children and adults. Its systems detect such neurological conditions as epilepsy and balance and sleep disorders. Natus also manufactures newborn and infant care products to diagnose and treat brain injury and jaundice. Natus Medical sells its wares in more than 100 countries through a direct sales force and distributors.

Navilyst Medical is charting a new course for itself in the world of vascular disease. Formerly part of Boston Scientific, Navilyst Medical was spun off, acquired by private equity firm Avista Capital Partners in February 2008, and given a new name. The medical device maker will continue to market its two main fluid management and vascular access products to cardiologists, oncologists, and radiologists around the world. Its NAMIC kits, which account for about 60% of revenue, are used to manage fluids during cardiac catheterization procedures. Its Pressure Activated Safety Valves (PASV) account for the remaining 40% and are used to administer drugs during such procedures as chemotherapy.
