California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC) is a health care complex located in the heart of hospital-heavy San Francisco. The private, not-for-profit center's four area campuses (California, Davies, Pacific, and St. Luke's) offer acute and specialty care, including obstetrics and gynecology, cardiovascular services, pediatrics, neurosciences, orthopedics, and organ transplantation. With more than 1,300 beds between its campuses, the center also conducts professional education and biomedical, clinical, and behavioral research. CPMC is part of the West Bay Region division of the Sutter Health hospital system.

Calvary Hospital works to keep adult patients in the advanced stages of cancer as comfortable as possible. The facility, founded in 1899, specializes in palliative care, the practice of relieving the pain and symptoms associated with the illness (not curing the illness itself.) Calvary Hospital offers both inpatient and outpatient services through two campuses; the main hospital has about 200 beds and a satellite location in Brooklyn, New York, has about 25 beds. Its home health care program provides on-call nurses who are available at all hours of the day as well as a range of therapy services including physical, speech, and occupational therapy.

Calvert Memorial Hospital provides health care to the residents of the Chesapeake Bay area in southern Maryland. Calvert Memorial Hospital, along with Dunkirk Medical Center, Solomons Medical Center, and a handful of specialty centers and clinics, make up Calvert Health System. In addition to acute care, Calvert Memorial and its affiliates offer same-day surgery, outpatient behavioral health care, and diagnostic imaging, as well as such alternative therapies as acupuncture, massage, and hypnotherapy. For long-term and critical care, Calvert Memorial has partnerships with area facilities, including Washington Hospital Center, Children's National Medical Center, and Johns Hopkins, and University of Maryland.

The Cambridge Public Health Commission (doing business as Cambridge Health Alliance or CHA) was established as a result of the 1996 merger of The Cambridge Hospital and Somerville Hospital. The health care organization operates the Cambridge Public Health Department, as well as three hospitals and about two dozen primary care practices specializing in such areas as pediatrics, senior health, family medicine, eye care, plastic surgery, psychiatry, and dentistry. CHA is a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School and the Tufts University School of Medicine.

It also operates a home health services agency (Visiting Nurse Association), primary and specialized care clinics, medical labs, a 130-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility, and a 56-unit assisted living facility. The health care system has a staff of more than 400 physicians.
