Calvary Hospital works to keep adult patients in the advanced stages of cancer as comfortable as possible. The facility, founded in 1899, specializes in palliative care, the practice of relieving the pain and symptoms associated with the illness (not curing the illness itself.) Calvary Hospital offers both inpatient and outpatient services through two campuses; the main hospital has about 200 beds and a satellite location in Brooklyn, New York, has about 25 beds. Together they have nearly 600 beds and employ a staff of 3,000. The not-for-profit CHS offers emergency, surgical, and acute care, and it serves as a hands-on teaching facility to nursing and medical students. The system primarily serves residents of Mercer County and nearby Bucks County in central New Jersey. Capital Health System offers centers for maternal and pediatric health, cardiology, dialysis, trauma services, oncology, orthopedics, mental health, and infectious diseases.
