Icera wants to serve up the next generation of wireless devices on ice. The mobile broadband startup company develops wireless processors for use in terminals that transmit data to mobile phones. The fabless semiconductor company touts its devices as offering high performance with low power consumption and low cost; the chips' designs are intended to make them flexible and scalable for a variety of networks. Its IceClear receiver technology cancels the effect of interference from other cells. Icera has design locations in Canada, France, the UK, and the US. It was founded in 2002 by veterans of Broadcom and STMicroelectronics. In 2008 the company merged with Sirific Wireless, carrying on the name of Icera.

IDEA Cellular is the nation's third-largest carrier (behind Airtel and Reliance). It is one of the few providers that offer wireless services across the country, even in India's hard-to-reach rural areas. IDEA offers contract and pre-paid cellular service options in addition to a number of value- added services such as mobile Web browsing, video streaming, and multimedia messaging. The company operates almost 400 retail stores and sells its products at Indian Oil and BPCL gas stations. IDEA Cellular is controlled by Indian industrial manufacturing conglomerate Aditya Birla Group.
