Kiplinger (pronounced KIP-ling-er) is a Washington, D.C.-based publisher of business forecasts and personal finance advice, available in print, online, audio, video and software products. Our best-known publications are The Kiplinger Letter, a weekly business and economic forecasting periodical for people in management, and the monthly Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine. The total paid circulation of our periodicals exceeds 850,000, and our Web site, Kiplinger.com, receives nearly 1.2 million unique visits per month.

One group is all about magazines. The Magazine Group (TMG) is a custom publisher of magazines and Web sites. It also produces podcasts and other multimedia content. With departments devoted to topics such as art, corporations, defense, environment, and peace and disarmament, the magazine boasts a circulation of about 200,000. In addition to its print magazine, The Nation Company publishes content online.

The National Magazine Company Ltd. publishes Web sites for NatMag titles through Hearst Digital Network; properties include women's site handbag.com and consumer health site netdoctor.co.uk. Founder William Randolph Hearst established the UK presence in 1910. A subsidiary of The Hearst Corporation, The National Magazine Company (NatMag) publishes about 20 magazines in the UK. Its titles include Cosmopolitan, Country Living, Harper's Bazaar, Esquire, and Good Housekeeping. The National Magazine company partnered with Rodale to publish Men's Health and Runner's World in the UK through its NatMag-Rodale unit. Its COMAG is a distribution partnership with Conde Nast Publications Limited (part of Conde Nast), one of the UK's largest magazine distributors.

A steady flow of readers, that's what The River Group aims to deliver. The custom publisher, which does business as River Publishing, produces marketing-centered customer magazines for such firms as WeightWatchers International, Harrods, and Holland & Barrett. (River produces 3 magazines on behalf of Weight Watchers -- Weight Watchers magazine, Your Week, and Irresistible.) The firm also offers promotions and special events planning and organization, as well as ad sales services for clients who want their publications to be self-funding. It also publishes online versions of its customer magazines.
