American Zoetrope
American Zoetrope has produced some of the most well-known films in American cinema, including American Graffiti, The Godfather trilogy, and Apocalypse Now. Other notable titles are the company's Lost in Translation and Marie Antoinette, which were written and directed by Sofia Coppola, Francis's daughter. Coppola founded the studio in 1969 and named it after receiving a gift of zoetropes (early motion picture making equipment with a Greek name that roughly translates to"wheel of life") from filmmaker and collector Mogens Skot-Hansen.
