YKK Corporation of America is a subsidiary of Tokyo-based YKK Corporation, makes more than just zippers for jeans, suitcases, and tents. Its line of fastening cover-ups, often sold under the YKK label, includes hook and loop self-closing tape systems, fabric webbings, metal snaps, buttons, and buckles. The company's architectural products subsidiary supplies aluminum sliding parts such as entrance and window systems for storefronts, window walls, and curtain wall systems. On the home front, YKK produces residential windows and doors. A vertical manufacturer, the company makes not only YKK products, but many of the machines and materials used to make them.
