Molson Coors Brewing Company is among the largest brewers by volume in the world, producing some 19 million hectoliters (502 million US gallons) of beer in 2009. With a portfolio of Molson-branded beers, led by the popular Molson Canadian, it dominates the Canadian beer market, accounting for 40% of the beer sold in that country. In the US, Molson Coors operates through joint venture MillerCoors (42%-owned with SABMiller), which markets Coors, Coors Light, and Molson products and is the second largest US brewer by volume. MCBC operates in Canada; its international sales are handled by its Molson Coors International (MCI) segment.

Molson Coors (UK) operates breweries in Alton, Burton-on-Trent, and Tadcaster. It was formed in 2002 when the brewery operations of the former Adolph Coors Company (now known as the Molson Coors Brewing Company) purchased what was once known as Bass Brewers. In 2005 the company added FEMSA Cerveza's Sol and Dos Equis brands to its portfolio.

New Belgium Brewing Company Inc traces its origin to a bike ride through Belgium that inspired the company's founder, Jeff Lebesch to start the business. That jaunt is commemorated with the company's flagship product, Fat Tire ale. The regional Colorado brewery's other beers go by names such as Blue Paddle, Mothership Wit, and Skinny Dip, and a series of labels under the Lips of Faith name. New Belgium makes some 350,000 barrels of beer a year and distributes them throughout the US. The US's third largest craft brewer by sales in 2008, the company attributes its success to its "whimsical approach to business."

Jack Joyce, Bob Woodell (past U of O fraternity brothers), and another friend, Rob Strasser, were approached by Jeff Schultz, Bob's accountant, and an avid home brewer.Construction began in June of 1988 in Ashland along a very scenic little stream called Lithia Creek. The 10 bbl brew system was set up in a basement with a 60 seat Pub above. The first brews were Amber and Gold. The Brewery and Pub opened in October 1988. While the Brew Pub was located in a very pretty and scenic location, had a beautiful deck and enjoyed moderate success and the beer was great, Ashland was not to be Rogue's only adventure. Ashland was basically land locked, and frankly we were losing our butts in Ashland, trying to sell our hand-crafted ales. Rogue needed room to grow and grow we did. So Jack set off in search of greener pastures.
