The Women's Foundation of California
The Women's Foundation of California with their mission of "creating a world where women, girls and their families can thrive." The not-for-profit foundation, a combination of The Women's Foundation (San Francisco) and Los Angeles Women's Foundation, annually provides about $4 million in grants to more than 1,000 organizations in California to support low-income women and girls. Programs include Homegirl Cafe (teaching former gang members the restaurant business), California Coalition for Reproductive Freedom, and the Rural Poverty Water Project. The Women's Foundation of California also offers a year long public policy advocacy training program. The Women's Foundation of California was established in 1979.
