Eastern Virginia Medical School
Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) offers medical degrees, residencies, and specialty programs in areas such as art therapy and clinical embryology. The community-oriented school does not have a teaching hospital but rather partners with about 10 regional hospitals and clinics. Its main campus is part of the Eastern Virginia Medical Center, which is also home to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters. The south campus hosts pediatric and diabetes research programs. EVMS also has research programs devoted to cancer, infectious diseases, cardiovascular disease, and women's health. The school was established in 1973.
