Farm Aid
Farm Aid helps farmers throughout the US. Farm Aid gives grants for food and emergency aid, hotlines, and legal assistance, as well as for education, outreach, and research. Farm Aid also promotes sustainable farming techniques, advocates for fair pricing, and provides credit counseling. Farm Aid's celebrity founders hope to raise American awareness that family farms (as opposed to corporate agriculture) are safer, more healthy, better for local economies, and more environmentally sound. The first FARM AID concert, and founding of Farm Aid, took place in 1985. Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp organized the first Farm Aid concert in 1985 to raise awareness about the loss of family farms and to raise funds to keep farm families on their land.
