National Association of Women Judges
The verdict is in: the National Association of Women Judges (NAWJ) wants gender equality in the US court system. The not-for-profit organization offers educational programs and professional development services to more than 1,200 members, who include both women and men, attorneys, law clerks, and judges at all levels, from tribal to federal. NAWJ holds national conferences to encourage professional networking, promotes diversity in hiring at law firms, offers law career training and scholarships to students, and provides legislative advocacy on behalf of women in prison and other underrepresented groups.
NAWJ was at the forefront in the establishment and implementation of gender bias task forces in both federal and state courts. NAWJ have greatly advanced the administration of justice in areas of domestic violence, child support and child custody, and the treatment of women in the courts of America.
