American Diabetes Association
The American Diabetes Association (ADA) lives for the day when it has no customers, but for now seeks to serve the more than 20 million children and adults in the US who have the disease. American Diabetes Association is a not-for-profit research, information, and advocacy organization that is working to prevent and cure diabetes as well as to improve the lives of people affected by diabetes. The ADA has operations in all 50 states and Washington, DC. America's Walk for Diabetes is the group's main fund raiser; others include the Tour de Cure (cycling), School Walk for Diabetes, and Kiss-A-Pig, to honor the pig for its role in discovering the effectiveness of insulin in controlling diabetes. The ADA was founded in 1940.
