Maruti Gypsy was perhaps the first car in the country which provided you the off road experience with a dash of style, however with the much superior Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) coming in,Maruti Gypsy seems to have lost out in style and sheen. Sports Utility Vehicles like Mahindra Scorpio, Ford Endeavour, HondaCRV seems to have left the Gypsy far behind as the SUVs come with a higher degree of refinement both in terms of styling and specifications.
The silver lining in this dark cloud scenario is the fact that the car has a loyal following in the racing circuit, and people who have a penchant for speed and adventure would still go for this old war horse from the stable of the country's largest car maker. Maruti Gypsy comes with a very high ground clearance which can lap up the Himalayan roads with ease and take the desert roads in their stride. The car comes fitted with a 1.3 liter engine and can deliver a power of about 80 Bhp. Diaphagram Spring Clutch have been specifically designed to reduce wear and tear and increase the longevity of the vehicle.
The car is available in three variants:
Ambulance The company provides you with the choice of four colors namely Bright Red, Silky Silver, Superior White and Wine Red.
The Gypsy has been in the country for just more than twenty years and it has gone through some major changes from time to time. In the late 90's Maruti infused a new lease of life to the vehicle by introducing a royal version of the vehicle called Gypsy king which comes fitted with a 1.3 liter engine, which provides the much needed power for the Gypsy's off road antics.
Though many better looking and powerful cars and SUVs have come into the country Maruti Gypsy still remains a rage among the people who have a streak of adventure in them.
The Gypsy also provided a higher degree of customization which can cost you extra and just to set the records straight it is still available to anyone who is willing to go for the cars and as the company rightly claims there is a gypsy in everyone.
