Prabdev Singh, chief executive officer of JPMorgan Chase & Co.’s bank in India, has stepped down before the end of his term.
Pranav Chawda, head of commercial banking for India, will expand his current responsibilities to become the head of India Corporate Banking and can confirm that PD Singh is leaving the firm, a JPMorgan representative said by email in response to queries from Bloomberg News.
Singh, popularly known as PD, had received regulatory approval in January 2023 for a three-year term as CEO of JPMorgan Chase Bank India. He had replaced Madhav Kalyan who — in October 2022 — was named head of payments for Asia Pacific.
The Wall Street firm, which traces its presence in India back to 1922, started commercial banking operations in the country about 17 years ago. JPMorgan has four commercial bank branches in the country, data on its website shows. It has four branches including in Delhi and Mumbai.
Singh, an engineer, had worked for a decade at HSBC Holdings Plc before joining JPMorgan in 2010, according to his LinkedIn profile.

A United Nations human rights working group on Monday called for the immediate release of Pakistan's imprisoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan, saying he had been detained arbitrarily in violation of international laws.

US-based short seller Hindenburg Research has said that it received a "show cause" notice from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) on June 27 "outlining suspected violations of Indian regulations" and alleged that the regulator came to Adani Group's aid after the January 2023 report was released.
"Our understanding from discussions with sources in the Indian market is that Sebi's surreptitious aid of Adani commenced almost immediately post-publication of our January 2023 report," it said in a blog post on Tuesday.

Niva Bupa Health Insurance has filed a draft red herring prospectus (DRHP) with the capital market regulator Sebi to raise Rs 3,000 crore via Initial Public Offering (IPO).
The IPO with a face value of Rs 10 each is a mix of fresh issuance of Rs 800 crore and an offer for sale (OFS) of up to Rs 2,200 crore by promoter and investor selling shareholders. Out of total OFS, Bupa Singapore Holdings Pte. Ltd will raise Rs 320 crore and up to Rs 1880 crore by Fettle Tone LLP.
