TCS chief pay atRs 12.5cr
Mumbai: Rajesh Gopinathan, the CEO of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), saw his remuneration rise to Rs 12.49 crore in 2017-18.
While Gopinathan received a total pay of Rs 6.22 crore in 2016-17, the numbers are not comparable as he assumed charge as the managing director and CEO of the country's largest IT services firm in February 2017.
He was earlier the chief financial officer of the company.
According to the 2017-18 annual report, the average annual increase for its employees in India was around seven per cent.
"The average annual increase was around 5-6 per cent in India. However, during the course of the year, the total increase is around 7 per cent, after accounting for promotions and other event based compensation revisions. Employees outside India received a wage increase of 2-5 per cent," the annual report said.
TCS had around 3,94,998 employees as on March 31, 2018.
While Gopinathan's salary was Rs 1.02 crore, perquisites stood at Rs 60.1 lakh.
The other components of his remuneration included a commission of Rs 10 crore and other allowances of Rs 86.8 lakh.
The other directors in TCS saw their remuneration rise between 10.53 per cent and 17.65 per cent. These included O.P. Bhatt, Aman Mehta, V. Thyagarajan, Prof. Clayton M. Christensen, and Ron Sommer.
The company did not state the percentage increase in remuneration of the other directors as it was only for part of the year or because of change in role/designation, thereby making them not comparable with the previous fiscal.
