Maruti Suzuki teases Concept FutureS ahead of 2018 Auto Expo debut; New design language for a new compact car segment

India's largest car maker Maruti Suzuki is all set to unveil its new design concept and come Auto Expo the company will showcase its Concept FutureS, an all new compact car design language. From the looks of the it the new concept is a uniquely styled compact car with aggressive styling and expect SUV stance and characteristic s on this compact car which is likely to be sub-4-meter. In a statement, Maruti Suzuki said, "compact is beautiful, #ConceptFutureS beautifully carries forward this Suzuki slogan and creates its own positioning by breaking away from the conventional proportions of a compact car."

This new design will re-define the designs of all new and existing Maruti Suzuki cars and expect 2018 to be a year of facelifts along with the launch of new generation Maruti Suzuki Swift at the 2018 Auto Expo. A few design cues from the sketch reveal an upright stance, higher seating and decent ground clearance, horizontal hood giving it an different stance and posture. The sketch showcases the future of Maruti Suzuki's compact cars. The urban SUV image is put together by the bold and upright front, with a Unique A-pillar treatment, that playfully connects to the accent on the side sill, taut powerful shoulders and a raised rear volume to give a dynamic appeal.

Explaining #ConceptFutureS CV Raman, Senior Executive Director (Engineering), Maruti Suzuki India Limited said, “The increasing preference for UVs and their bold architecture inspired our design team to study a new character for compact cars. ConceptFutureS could mark a distinctive shift in how compact cars are shaped and designed in India in the future.”

The compact SUV Future S will be positioned below the popular Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and is likely to take on the Mahindra KUV 100 space. The company says that this space is evolving rapidly and the company wants to make the most in this space. In an interview to Autocar, C.V Raman was quoted saying “But, we have to see how much lower we can go below the Brezza, and this is something we are experimenting with in terms of proportions and design. But, it’s always a challenge to do this in the compact segment”. The report also suggest that the Future S is over 200 mm shorter than Vitara Brezza in length and the car is expected to make its market debut in 2019. The segment will also ensure more volumes to the company.

Maruti Suzuki design team feels that ConceptFutureS epitomizes the next level of design evolution in terms of design proportions, body sculpting and stimulating fusion of bold patterns and superior accent colors. It is a big step-up in design language.

The global premiere of Maruti Suzuki ConceptFutureS will take place at Delhi Auto Expo in early February 2018.
