India's Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) rose to 58.1 in March 2025, up from 56.3 in February, according to data released by HSBC and compiled by S&P Global on Wednesday. The rise was driven by stronger new orders growth, as the New Orders Index reached its highest level in eight months, supported by increased customer interest, favourable demand conditions, and successful marketing initiatives.

Congress MP Manish Tewari submitted an adjournment motion notice in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, calling for a discussion on the revocation of student visas of Indian nationals by US authorities.

President Donald Trump’s sweeping tariffs will take immediate effect after they are announced Wednesday, his top spokeswoman said.

“My understanding is that the tariff announcement will come tomorrow. They will be effective immediately, and the president has been teasing this for quite some time,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters on Tuesday.
