Fintech unicorn Razorpay has acquired Ezetap, India’s leading offline Point-Of-Sale (POS) company which was founded with the aim of simplifying the in-person offline payments experience. The value of the transaction is around $200 million, according to sources.

The acquisition enables Bengaluru-based Razorpay’s foray into offline payments. With this acquisition, Razorpay will be one of the few companies across the world with a significant online and offline presence in payments. This marks Razorpay’s sixth and biggest acquisition thus far.

SoftBank-backed Food delivery giant Swiggy said it has appointed Rohit Kapoor as Chief Executive Officer, Food Marketplace. In his role, Kapoor will drive the food delivery business and be responsible to develop strategies, drive growth and fostering innovation.

“Our food marketplace has continued to evolve over the last few years and has the potential to grow further under focused leadership. Rohit’s (Kapoor) work experiences bring a unique perspective to the role,” said Sriharsha Majety, CEO, Swiggy.

The Passenger Reservation System (PRS) of the Indian Railways is all set for another revamp, a move that can help weed out 'malafide users' who crowd the system with fake IDs, a report by Livemint stated.

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has now made it compulsory to have an Aadhaar number on the enrolment slip in order to avail of government subsidies and benefits.

The move was announced by UIDAI on August 11, 2022, in a series of circulars. The circulars, which were marked to all state governments and central ministries, states that "as on June 30, 2022, more than 99% of adult residents of India have been issued Aadhaar numbers barring a few states.

Indian low-cost carrier SpiceJet Ltd said on Tuesday it has entered into a settlement agreement with aircraft lessor Goshawk Aviation Ltd and its affiliates related to three Boeing aircraft.

The airline said that the agreement - the terms of which are confidential - ends all litigation proceedings between the parties, adding that this will allow SpiceJet to add two more fuel-efficient Boeing 737 MAX aircraft and one Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft to its fleet.
