A five-judge bench of the Supreme Court continued with its hearing on pleas seeking legal validation of same-sex marriages. The apex court on Thursday asked the government to find a way to give same-sex couples basic social benefits, like joint bank accounts or nominating a partner in insurance policies, even without legal recognition of their marital status.
While hearing a plea seeking the de-sealing of the Uphaar cinema hall, the apex court allowed Ansal Theatres and Clubotels Private Ltd, whose former directors were real estate barons Sushil Ansal and Gopal Ansal, to move the trial court.

Barely days after Apple opened its exclusive store at Delhi's Select City Walk mall, the company's premium reseller closed down its outlet in the mall. Apple had furnished a list of 20 resellers with the mall management that was prohibited to open stores near the company's showroom in the national capital.
The operator of the mall chose not to extend the company's lease as they believed Apple Store will sell more products than the reseller and there was no need for another company selling Apple inside the mall, reported ET.

A shutdown has been called in Maharashtra's premier religious tourism destination, Shirdi. The indefinite bandh has been called against the government's decision to deploy CISF for the security of the Sai Baba Temple. The administration of the temple has been protesting against the decision to deploy CISF, which primarily protects industrial installations, metro stations and airports.
The indefinite bandh will begin on May 1.

India was one of the top countries that made legal requests to remove content from Twitter between January and June last year, the social media company said.
"Around the world, Twitter received approximately 53,000 legal requests to remove content from governments during the reporting period [January - June 2022]," Twitter said in a blog post.

MG Motor India on Wednesday launched Comet EV — India’s cheapest electric car — at prices starting from Rs 7.98 lakh. It will compete with Tata Motors’ popular compact electric vehicle (EV) Tiago that is available at prices starting from Rs 8.67 lakh.
The two-door Comet EV offers a range of 230 kilometers on a single charge, while Tata's four-door Tiago EV has a range of 250-315 km. Electric cars currently hold less than 2 per cent share of the Indian car market. However, the segment has been observing sizable growth during the last few years.

The Union Bank of India’s board on Wednesday approved a capital raising plan of Rs 10,100 crore, the lender informed the exchanges on Wednesday.
The bank will raise upto Rs 8,000 crore through a public issue, rights issue or via private placement including qualified institutional placement (QIP) of a private placement.

Fly91, a regional start-up airline based in Goa, has received 'no objection' clearance (NOC) from the civil aviation ministry to start operations.
Fly91 aims to start flights in the October-December quarter. It is promoted by Harsha Raghavan, the former Fairfax India head, and Manoj Chacko, executive vice president of suspended Kingfisher Airlines.

On Wednesday, Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) mayor Shelly Oberoi, a candidate from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), was chosen by a unanimous vote. Shikha Rai, a Greater Kailash-based BJP councillor and the party's candidate for mayor, withdrew her candidature.
Shikha Rai, a candidate for the BJP, and assigned Shelly Oberoi, an AAP member, squared off in the Delhi mayoral election on Wednesday. The Civic Centre, the MCD's administrative centre, served as the location of the election. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is governed by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Shares of Saksoft hit a fresh record high of Rs 244.70, as they soared 17 per cent on the BSE in Wednesday’s intra-day trade amid heavy volumes. In past two days, the stock has zoomed 33 per cent from a level of Rs 183.80. In comparison, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 0.06 per cent at 60,165 at 11:35 AM.
The average trading volumes at the counter more-than-doubled today. A combined 3.95 million equity shares representing 3.7 per cent of total equity of Saksoft so far changed hands on the NSE and BSE.
