ITC topples TCS to become India's most admired company

Tobacco-to-FMCG conglomerate ITC has replaced Tata group's IT giant TCS as the country's most admired company on a Fortune magazine list, which has got as many as 19 new entrants including Cognizant, Birla group firm Idea Cellular and discom BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd. In the latest list for the year 2014, ITC is followed by engineering and infrastructure major Larsen and Toubro (L&T), another FMCG giant Hindustan Unilever, carmaker Maruti Suzuki and public sector bank SBI among the top five most admired companies in India.

It now has 3,400 cabin crew, including 800 hired on contract. A senior executive said, “Improving the performance parameters is priority. It is important to instil a sense of discipline. The airline and its passengers should not suffer due to delays or absenteeism on the part of cockpit and cabin crew.”

Giving details of the alleged conspiracy, NIA said the accused had collected explosives from Mirzapur and other material from Patna to fabricate improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

Ali, who allegedly also planted bombs at Bodh Gaya last year, had given up the idea of planting cylinder bombs as they were not that effective. After learning how to make bombs from "Inspire" magazine of banned terror group Al-Qaeda, they fabricated IEDs in pipe-elbow style, according to the charge sheet.

ICICI Bank plans to add more than 1.5 million accounts in FY15

ICICI Bank, in a move to take ahead its financial inclusion strategy, is planning to add another 1.5 million bank accounts in this financial year.

“We have around 18.5 million zero basic savings bank deposit accounts and by the end of this year, we expect to have close to 20 million such accounts,” said Rajiv Sabharwal, executive director, ICICI Bank, the country’s largest private sector lender.

Leading stock exchanges, BSE and NSE, will drop United Spirits Ltd (USL) from the future and option segment from September 19 as the company failed to comply with listing agreements, including timely submission of financial results.

In similarly-worded circulars, BSE and NSE said “United Spirits Ltd has not submitted financial results for the year ended March 31, 2014 and quarter ended June 30, 2014 as required under Clause 41 of the listing agreement.”
