Rising for the seventh straight day, the benchmark BSE Sensex rose 168 points in early trade on Monday as participants engaged in enlarging positions tracking a firm global cues amid steady progress in monsoon.

At 9.26 am, Sensex was up 162.67 points at 27,478.84. Similarly, Nifty was up 49.75 points at 8,274.70 during the same time.

Country's top stock exchange NSE will introduce an overnight liquid transaction facility on its web-based Mutual Fund platform, from June 22.

The facility will enable traders, especially small investors, to invest even for a single night in liquid funds.

Arundhati Bhattacharya, chairman, State Bank of India (SBI), assured shareholders that the current financial year is expected to be more promising than the previous year as a stable political establishment is turning the economic tide for the better in the country.

In a message to the shareholders in the bank's annual report, she said, "This is mainly because 2014 general elections produced a very stable political environment on the plank of commitment to growth.

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has completed its investigation into the eight-year-old case of Reliance Industries’ (RIL) fraudulent and unfair trade practices (FTUP), sources said.

“The investigation has been completed. RIL counsel would be awarded a final hearing in the coming weeks before any conclusion is reached,” said a source.
