NEW DELHI: L&T Construction, an arm of infrastructure major Larsen and Toubro (L&T), has won orders worth Rs 1,975 crore across business segments.
The orders have been secured across the Middle-East for turnkey construction of various sub-stations and cable feeders, the parent company said in a statement today.

Mahindra & Mahindra, the world's largest tractor maker in terms of volumes has taken a new strategic direction in the domestic market by renaming its subsidiary with the Gujarat Government from Mahindra Gujarat Tractors Limited to Gromax Agri Equipment Ltd to target 30-50 horse power tractor market more effectively.
Gromax on Monday launched its all new tractor brand Trakstar which will focus on value seeking farmers and enhance their prosperity said the statement from the company. The Trakstar range will cater to almost 80% of the Indian tractor market.

NEW DELHI: The Modi government is unlikely to sell Air India to a foreign carrier and has clarified it in the consolidated Foreign Direct Investment policy, released today. It has said that the rule allowing foreign carriers to own up to 49% in Indian carriers do not apply to Air India.
“The policy mentioned at para (c) above (foreign carriers allowed to own 49% in Indian carriers) is not applicable to M/s Air India Limited,” the government clarified in consolidated FDI policy released today.

The Income Tax department reportedly would not extend the deadline of August 31 for linking Aadhaar Card to your Pan card.
Earlier, this month the IT department did extend the last day to August 31, however, it made it cleared that the returns would not be processed, if the linking could not be done.

The Income Tax department will tightened noose on individuals who are getting high returns on their fixed deposits investments but are not paying the taxes.
The IT department would be watching closely over those with interest income of Rs 5 lakh or more, including senior citizens, according to a report published in the Times of India.

Telecom sector watchdog, TRAI has ordered Idea Cellular to deposit Rs 2.97 crores for overcharging its subscribers for making calls to BSNL and MTNL networks.
However, the amount would be paid to the Telecom Consumers Education and Protection Fund (TCEPF) as Idea is unable to refund its customers as there is no availability of rated call records.

The Rs 1,000-denomination note may be making comeback after its legal tender status was withdrawn in the demonetisation measure announced on November 8 last year. According to a source-based DNA report, the government will soon start printing the new Rs 1,000 notes with enhanced security features as compared to its predecessor.
Citing a person close to the development, the report said that work on the design and paper for printing the new Rs 1,000 notes was in full swing and that they could be out and in your wallets as soon as December this year. The person told the news agency that the Mysore and Salboni printing presses were getting ready to print the new currency notes.

P V Sindhu's gallant effort to become India's first ever World Champion ended in a heart- wrenching defeat against Japan's Nozomi Okuhara in an epic final on Sunday.
In the longest match of the tournament, which tested the physical and mental strength of both the players, Sindhu lost 19-21 22-20 20-22 after battling hard for one hour and 49 minutes. Their bodies were falling apart as the match progressed but both Sindhu and Okuhara used every ounce of energy left in them to make it an epic contest.

Real estate developer DLF said on Sunday it had entered into a joint venture with Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund GIC to build rental assets in India after its promoters sold 33.34 per cent stake in the rental arm to the Singapore sovereign wealth fund.
DLF also said it expected an infusion of Rs 13,000 crore into the company, a better part from promoters, by December and the amount would be utilised for reducing its debt substantially. While promoters are expected to invest about Rs 10,500 crore into the company, DLF expects to raise another Rs 3,000 crore from institutional investors through qualified institutional placement, sources said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday declared an immediate relief of Rs 500 crore for flood-hit Bihar after undertaking an aerial survey of affected areas. He also announced an exgratia of Rs 2 lakh to the families of those killed and Rs 50,000 for those injured grievously by the floods.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi. He also reviewed relief and rehabilitation work with them in detail.
