Microsoft has added new features and made a series of tweaks to its Windows 10 Maps app gifting users better search and driving interface.

Users of the updated version of the app will be able to view multiple search results on the same map, follow redesigned turn-by-turn instructions when driving, and see favourite spots offline, among other smaller changes, The Verge reported on Thursday.

New Delhi: HCL Technologies Ltd, India’s fourth largest software services exporter, on Monday said it will launch an incubation centre for the Internet of Things in partnership with Microsoft Corp. in Redmond, Washington.

The aim is to build advanced solutions based on machine-to-machine (M-2-M) technology, in areas such as industrial manufacturing, life sciences and healthcare.

Microsoft, though its Microsoft Licensing LLC, and GoPro today announced that they have signed a collaborative patent licensing deal for “certain file storage and other system technologies.”

“This agreement with GoPro shows the incredible breadth of technology sharing enabled through patent transactions,” said Nick Psyhogeos, president of Microsoft Technology Licensing, in today’s extremely brief announcement.

In reporting better-than-expected fiscal second-quarter earnings on Thursday, Microsoft Corp. CEO Satya Nadella touted his company’s success in the cloud.

“Businesses everywhere are using the Microsoft Cloud as their digital platform to drive their ambitious transformation agendas,” he said.

Microsoft India today announced that it has extended the maternity leave for its women employees to six months from the current three months.

The new maternity policy will be effective from February 1, 2016 and also benefit all women employees who are currently on maternity leave.

San Francisco: Microsoft Corp’s latest operating system, Windows 10, is running on 200 million devices in what the company said was the fastest adoption rate of any of its operating systems.

Windows 10, which the company released as a free download in July, powers both personal computers and devices like phones. It replaced Windows 8, the heavily criticized system dating from 2012.
