Larsen & Toubro Infotech (LTI), IT services arm of engineering and construction conglomerate Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Ltd., on Wednesday said it has appointed Nachiket Deshpande as its Chief Operating Officer.

Deshpande was with Cognizant Technology Solutions before joining LTI.

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Wednesday said its construction arm has bagged orders worth Rs 2,106 crore across various business segments in the domestic market. The water and effluent treatment business have secured orders worth Rs 1,954 crore while L&T Geo-Structure business has secured orders worth Rs 152 crore, the engineering and construction major said in a regulatory filing.

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Monday said its construction arm has won orders worth Rs 11.27 billion across two of its business segments.

In the metallurgical and material handling business, the company bagged contracts worth Rs 7.55 billion.

State-owned NBCC, Cube Highways & Infrastructure, L&T Infrastructure, Kotak Investment Advisors and Suraksha Asset Reconstruction along with Lakshdeep Investments and Finance and Suraksha Realty have submitted their expression of interest for the bankrupt Jaypee Infratech (JIL). These firms have been provisionally shortlisted by the resolution professional and will subsequently be asked to submit their resolution plans.

Shares of Larsen & Toubro ((L&T) were up by 6% at Rs 1,379 per share on the BSE in early morning trade after the company reported 23% year-on-year (Y-o-Y) jump in its consolidated net profit at Rs 22.30 billion in September quarter (Q2FY19). The consolidated gross revenue during the quarter grew 21% at Rs 320.81 billion on a Y-o-Y basis.

Shares of L&T Finance Holdings (LTFH) have slumped as much as 13% to Rs 111 per share, also their 52-week low on the BSE in early morning trade, despite the company reporting a strong 66% year-on-year (Y-o-Y) growth in its consolidated net profit of Rs 5.60 billion in September quarter (Q2FY19). Net interest income (interest income minus interest expense) grew 54% to Rs 11.26 billion over the previous year quarter.

Engineering and construction major Larsen & Toubro (L&T), which is majority owned by its employees, is the only domestic firm to be featured among the top 25 companies in the Forbes’ global 2000 best employers list that is led by Google parent Alphabet.

While L&T is ranked 22, there are only four domestic firms in the top 100 list which include Mahindra & Mahindra at 55, Grasim Industries at 59 and HDFC at 91, and only 24 domestic companies in the overall list, according to the US magazine.

NEW DELHI: Infrastructure major Larsen and Toubro (L&T) Monday said that its heavy engineering arm has bagged additional orders worth over Rs 1,000 crore during the September quarter.

The L&T Heavy Engineering, the heavy engineering arm of Larsen & Toubro, has secured additional orders worth 1,050 crore in the second quarter this fiscal.

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Monday said the power transmission and distribution business of its arm L&T Construction has bagged orders worth Rs 18.81 billion in the domestic and international markets.

"The business has secured major orders for constructing 22 132/11kV substations in Kuwait," the engineering and construction major said in a BSE filing.
