Jeff Bezos is about to relinquish the title of world’s richest person to Bill Gates, as Amazon.com Inc. stock tumbled in late trading Thursday.

Shares of the biggest online retailer dropped 8.1 per cent to $1,637 in extended trading at 4:24 p.m. in New York. At that price, Bezos would have a net worth of $102.8 billion, ranking him second, and almost $5 billion behind Gates, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. Bezos took the top spot from the Microsoft Corp. co-founder in October 2017.

After a 2013 factory collapse killed more than 1,100 people in Bangladesh, most of the biggest U.S. apparel retailers joined safety-monitoring groups that required them to stop selling clothing from factories that violated certain safety standards.

In a first-of-its-kind move by an e-commerce company, Amazon optimising its delivery boxes to increase customer engagement has announced Storyboxes — a packaging initiative where Amazon shares the growth journey of its sellers on the boxes. The company started the initiative during its annual Great Indian Festival sale (September 29 – October 4) to print the stories of its six sellers as of now. The company is looking to increase the number of such sellers’ stories ahead.

New Delhi: In a bid to increase revenue through the non-fare sources, the railways has decided to allow carriage to goods of e-commerce giant Amazon on a pilot basis for three months during the non-peak hours, officials said on Monday.
