Maruti Suzuki India hit a new high of Rs 9,120 on the BSE in intra-day delas on Friday, surpassing the state-owned banking giant State Bank of India (SBI) in market capitalisation (market-cap) ranking.
On Thursday, Maruti Suzuki India had surpassed the India's largest mortgage lender and non-banking finance company Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC).

Siddhartha Lal, CEO, Eicher Motors, recently tweeted that Royal Enfield's sales are equivalent to the global sales of Harley-Davidson, KTM, BMW, Triumph and Ducati combined. Yes, he actually said that! Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director, Bajaj Auto, responded to the tweet through a statement to Business Standard, saying "By measuring solely on the basis of volumes at the exclusion of pricing power, it would seem that Maruti Suzuki is above and beyond brands like Mercedes, BMW, Audi and Porsche put together."

NEW DELHI: Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) has launched a crossover version of its Celerio hatchback, christened the CelerioX. Prices of the new model start at Rs 4.57 lakh for the Vxi MT variant while the top Zxi (O) AMT trim comes at Rs 5.42 lakh (both ex-showroom, Delhi).
The crossover model is based on the 2017 Celerio facelift version and gets some cosmetic updates to look rugged and aggressive. Big changes have been made in the front with a new grille, bumper and a lower-body protective cladding that runs throughout the cir Maruti CelerioX cumference of the car.

Maruti Suzuki have launched the CelerioX at a starting price of Rs. 4.57 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The Maruti Suzuki Celerio has been a decent success for Maruti Suzuki since its launch in 2014, it was the first hatch in the maruti stable to get the AMT gearbox, making it more convenient for city users courtesy Maruti’s more than amiable asking price. Maruti then tried to give the Celerio a 800cc diesel engine, which was infact Maruti’s first in-house diesel engine, and while it was the most frugal engine in its time. It didn't catch the public eye and the Celerio diesel faded away. The Celerio is back this time as Maruti’s first attempt at the growing hatchback crossover market.

Maruti Suzuki’s first premium compact hatchback Baleno has become the second-largest selling vehicle of the company, next only to the Alto, overtaking the Dzire (compact sedan), Swift (hatchback) and the Wagon R in the first seven months of the current fiscal. This is the first time that a premium product, or an above `6-lakh car, has managed to climb up to the second position in the volumes table. In the April to October period, the volumes of Baleno increased by 64.9% y-o-y to 1,08,329 units and the average production of the car has been around 17,000 units per month.

Maruti Suzuki’s second most sold utility vehicle after the Vitara Brezza is the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga MPV and the sales of the Ertiga has been constantly on the rise in the Indian market. In FY 2016-17, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga sales registered a growth of 5% with total domestic sales of 63,527 units. The 7-seater vehicle has been widely accepted and considered to be a value-for-money family car. Recent images captured by Motoroids suggests that the new generation Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is in works and the company has already started testing the mule near its manufacturing plant in Gurgaon, Haryana. The images that appear to be of the 2018 Ertiga can be seen with heavy camouflage.

Owing to a slow pick-up in rural markets following the implementation of the goods and services tax (GST) and inventory correction made by the companies after supplying a record number of vehicles since July, the passenger vehicle segment reported a marginal decline in October. This is the first time that the car market witnessed a decline in dispatches since June when carmarkers did not push inventory into dealerships before the introduction of the GST. Carmarkers also had a high base in the corresponding period since both Navratri and Diwali were in the same month last year. According to the latest data from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) for October, the passenger car segment witnessed a 5.3% Y-o-Y decline in volumes to 1,84,666 units, while the same for the utility vehicles space increased 12.45% Y-o-Y to 79,323 units.

Sales of Maruti Suzuki’s mid-size sedan Ciaz seem to have come under pressure with 43% tax (28% GST plus 15% cess) getting levied on hybrid cars. Launched in 2014, Maruti unleashed Ciaz’s mild hybrid variant last year, which attracted just 12.5% excise duty compared to a 28% on any other car in the segment. Hence, Ciaz became most popular choice of customers in the segment. However, after the GST roll-out, taxes on hybrid cars were hiked to the same level – 28% GST plus 15% cess as any other car with a more than 4-metre chassis and this has substantially impacted the fortune of the sedan.

The country's largest car maker Maruti Suzuki on Wednesday reported 9.3% increase in wholesale at 135128 units for October.
The company had sold 123684 vehicles in the domestic market in the year-ago period.
