Maruti ties up with B-schools to train dealership execs

Chennai: As part of its 2020 target of 2 million units in sales, passenger vehicle market leader Maruti Suzuki is tying up with business schools to extensively train its dealership manpower. Under the programme, the company has already trained over 500 managers in FY17-18 and will train another 1000 in the next financial year.

The three-day residential programmes are co-curated by Maruti and the faculty of IMT Ghaziabad and MDI Gurugram.

Keeping this in mind, Maruti Suzuki, the country’s largest car maker, has launched an exercise to train managers from its dealerships at leading business schools like Gurgaon’s Management Development Institute (MDI) and Ghaziabad’s Institute of Management Technology (IMT). More than 500 such managers have already been trained these institutes.

Country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) on Monday said its highest selling model Alto has crossed the 3.5 million cumulative sales milestone.

Brand Alto has clocked a growth rate of 6 per cent in 2017-18, MSI said in a statement, adding that it has garnered a market share of 33 per cent in the ongoing financial year.

Swift, available in both petrol and diesel, has been priced between Rs 4.99 lakh to Rs 7.29 lakh for petrol manual version, and Rs 5.99 lakh and Rs 8.29 lakh for diesel manual variant.

Japan's Suzuki Motor Corp on Monday announced a 68 percent jump in operating profit in the third quarter due to ongoing growth in automobile and motorcycle sales in India, its biggest market, as well as in Europe and at home.

Operating profit at Japan's No. 4 automaker came in at 86.9 billion yen ($790.36 million) in October-December, jumping from 51.85 billion yen a year earlier and exceeding a median forecast of 77.49 billion yen from nine analysts polled by Thomson Reuters.

he country's largest car maker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) today reported 4.8 per cent increase in total sales at 1,51,351 units in January compared to 1,44,396 units in the same month of 2017.

The company's domestic sales stood at 1,40,600 units, up 5 per cent from 1,33,934 units in January 2017, MSI said in a statement.

NEW DELHI: India's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki will start making its first affordable electric vehicle (EV) by 2020 based on technology from parent Suzuki Motor, ahead of products developed in partnership with Toyota.

The company and its parent are focusing on in-house capabilities but are also looking for partners to put in place the ecosystem for electric vehicles, Maruti Suzuki managing director Kenichi Ayukawa told ET in an interview. The Japanese carmaker will not rely solely on its partner Toyota's expertise to build EVs from the ground up.
