Beceem Communications company is a designer, developer, and
supplier of semiconductors used in 4G wireless and mobile
broadband devices, including smartphones, modems, gateways,
mobile routers, and laptops. Beceem Communications company,
which partners with Clearwire, Sprint Nextel, and other
companies for development of its products, sells to OEMs and
telecom equipment makers like Motorola (about half of
sales), Accton, Quanta, Uniquest Corp. (12% of sales), and
ZTE. It gets most of its sales in Asia. Founded in 2003,
Beceem filed for an IPO in 2010. The company agreed to be
acquired by Broadcom for $316 million later that year.
