ZF Sachs Automotive of America, a subsidiary of Germany's ZF Friedrichshafen (ZF), is a maker of automotive suspension and transmission components such as torque converters, clutches, damping systems, shock absorbers, and electric propulsion systems. Sachs Automotive's products find applications on all types of vehicles including rail, marine craft, and helicopters. While it is primarily focused on larger vehicles, including buses, heavy trucks, locomotives, and agricultural equipment, it also provides chassis and driveline products for smaller vehicles, such as passenger cars, small trucks, and snowmobiles. The subsidiary oversees operations in South America, which together amount to about 15% of ZF's sales.
