Aldebaron, Inc. (formally known as "CASSI") was established in 1988 for the purpose of developing and marketing a government contract oriented cost accounting software system. The software had originally been designed with the expert assistance of an ex-DCAA auditor. SYMPAQ for DOS was launched as a commercial-off-the-shelf package in 1990, and Aldebaron continued to expand its cost accounting features throughout the 1990's. A growing customer base of government contractors was built on Aldebaron's straightforward promise: Service, Affordability, Flexibility, and Excellence. Even as they were developing SYMPAQ SQL, the company updated the DOS system's database and ensured Y2K compatibility well ahead of schedule.
