Eastman Chemical Company, a chemical company, engages in the manufacture and sale of chemicals, plastics, and fibers in the United States and internationally. The company operates in four segments: Coatings, Adhesives, Specialty Polymers, and Inks (CASPI); Fibers; Performance Chemicals and Intermediates (PCI); and Specialty Plastics. A division of Dutch chemicals colossus Akzo Nobel, it operates through two divisions: Pulp and Paper -- which itself is divided along geographic lines -- and Specialty Products. Eka's bleaching chemicals provide more than half of the company's total sales. The remaining portions of the Pulp and Paper unit provide everything from monitoring units for chem labs to coating additives.

Elekeiroz's customers are hooked on toxic substances. The company's annual output of 468,000 tons of chemicals is divided evenly between organic and inorganic products. The organic chemicals it produces include alcohol-based solvents, formaldehyde, and sulfur; its inorganic chemicals include components for drying agents and dyes, additives for pesticides, and plasticizers used in the manufacture of PVC and other plastics.

Elkem is one of Norway's largest industrial companies and aims to become a global supplier to the silicon products and solar energy industries. Its products include ferroalloys, silicon metal, carbon, and microsilica. In addition, Elkem produces hydroelectric power for Norway's power market and is involved in energy trading in the Nordic market. It is also developing its own technology for highly purified silicon, to be used in solar cells. Elkem is a subsidiary of Norwegian industrial conglomerate Orkla.

EMCO Chemical Distributors has developed a special chemistry with its Midwest manufacturing customers. The company distributes chemicals that include acids, alcohols, surfactants, solvents, and other industrial and specialty chemicals. Its custom packaging facility provides contract blending and packaging services and concentrates on filling orders for hazardous chemicals. Long situated solely in Chicago, EMCO has in recent years opened new facilities in Minneapolis/St. Paul; Kenosha, Wisconsin; and suburban St. Louis. Its waste services division supplies processed non-hazardous waste to Covanta's New York waste-to-energy facility. President, CEO, and owner Edward Polen founded EMCO in 1971.
