Marquette Lumber Company, Inc.
Marquette Lumber Co. makes its mark in wood. The company processes American hardwoods (Northern, Southern, and Appalachian), used mostly for furniture and flooring, and wholesales it to manufacturing and construction companies. The firm operates two lumberyards and offices in Norwalk, Ohio; Sandown, New Hampshire; St. Louis; and Vero Beach, Florida. Russel H. Downey founded Marquette Lumber Co. in 1919 in South Bend, Indiana. The company moved to Vero Beach, Florida in 1972; the founding Downey family still runs it.
