CIMPOR is Portugal's largest cement manufacturer and one of the largest on the Iberian Peninsula. The company produces and markets more than 31 million tons of cement around the world each year. CIMPOR also produces aggregate, concrete and precast concrete products, hydraulic lime, and dry mortars. The company operates in about a dozen countries in Europe, Africa, Asia, and South America; about half of its cement is manufactured in Spain and Portugal.

The firm was founded by Scottish-born Henry Alexander, grandfather of chairman and CEO Patrick Alexander. Cold Spring Granite has been chipping away as a granite business since the late 1800s. The company operates about 30 granite quarries and five fabrication facilities in Canada and the US that produce 1.5 million net cube of granites per year for commercial, residential, and institutional use. Its granite products include floor tiles, countertop slabs, paving materials, and exterior building blocks; its Memorialization division makes upright monuments, bronze markers, urns, bases, and mausoleums. Cold Spring's granite can be found in national monuments, cemeteries, and the columns of Minnesota's state capitol.

CONTECH Construction Products wants water, not profits, to go down the drain. The company makes and distributes site-specific civil engineering products related to storm water management, earth stabilization, erosion control, and wall and bridge structures. Products include retaining walls, precast concrete bridges, plastic and metal drainage pipes, and storm water filtration systems. CONTECH sells to builders of commercial, industrial, and public projects, as well as large-scale residential communities. It has dealers, distributors, or manufacturing plants in all 50 US states, as well as a national sales and project consultant organization. Goldman Sachs Mezzanine Partners (GSMP) took control of CONTECH in 2010.
