WakeMed is a network of medical centers including two hospitals, outpatient and emergency clinics, rehabilitation facilities, skilled nursing centers, laboratories, physicians' offices, and home care service agencies. Its hospitals, the WakeMed Raleigh Campus and the WakeMed Cary Hospital, include specialty divisions such as heart care, stroke, trauma, critical care, diabetes, asthma, and children's and women's centers. Walton Rehabilitation Hospital provides rehabilitative care to people who have suffered catastrophic illness or injuries, primarily serving the central Savannah River area in Georgia. The hospital offers services for patients recovering from strokes, as well as brain, spinal cord, and orthopedic injuries. It also provides a pain center and independent living services. Walton Rehabilitation Hospital was founded in 1988.

Washington County Health System (WCHS) provides a wide range of medical services to patients living in western Maryland, southern Pennsylvania, and adjacent portions of West Virginia. Its flagship facility, the not-for-profit Washington County Hospital, has some 350 beds and offers acute, tertiary, and long-term care, including inpatient behavioral health services, cardiac care, obstetrics, cancer treatment, rehabilitation, and trauma care. WCHS also operates the for-profit Antietam Health Services, a provider of outpatient health care, including diagnostic imaging, laboratory services, and ambulatory surgery. In addition, it provides general practice care at the Robinwood Medical Center.

Washington Hospital Center Corporation, at the heart of the MedStar Health system, serves about 450,000 patients living in and around the nation's capital each year. Washington Hospital Center has approximately 925 beds and includes specialized care centers for cancer, cardiovascular conditions, and neurosciences. Other services include organ transplantation and a regional burn treatment center, as well as emergency air transportation. The hospital also conducts clinical research and offers educational residency and fellowship programs.
