Virtua Health is one of the largest providers of health care services in southern New Jersey. The nonprofit system consists of four acute-care hospitals (serving the communities of Berlin, Marlton, Mt. Holly, and Voorhees), as well as several outpatient surgery centers, rehabilitation and long-term care facilities, and specialty clinics. It also has a home care service and mobile intensive care units. Specialties include pediatrics, cardiology, orthopedics, cancer treatment, and women's health care. Wabash County Hospital is a small community hospital with 25 beds and offers patients a range of services including cancer treatment; cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation; critical and acute care; and general, laparoscopic, and orthopedic surgery. The facility also provides hospice and home health care programs, occupational health services, and emergency medicine.

Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center is a bastion of health in the thick of tobacco country. The not-for-profit system, known as WFUBMC, comprises Wake Forest University Health Sciences (founded in 1902, includes the School of Medicine), the North Carolina Baptist Hospitals (founded in 1923, with facilities devoted to geriatrics, cancer, pediatrics, and more), and Wake Forest University Physicians. The regional system includes about 20 community hospitals and primary care offices and another 100 satellite clinics, consulting operations, and health fairs. WFUBMC offers rehabilitation, skilled nursing, home health, and a unit devoted to coordinating special services for international patients.

WakeMed is a network of medical centers including two hospitals, outpatient and emergency clinics, rehabilitation facilities, skilled nursing centers, laboratories, physicians' offices, and home care service agencies. Its hospitals, the WakeMed Raleigh Campus and the WakeMed Cary Hospital, include specialty divisions such as heart care, stroke, trauma, critical care, diabetes, asthma, and children's and women's centers. Combined, its facilities offer about 870 beds. WakeMed also conducts research and medical training programs.
