United Surgical Partners International (USPI) brings together surgeons from across the US and the UK. The company owns or manages about 165 short-stay ambulatory surgery centers and surgical hospitals in the US and another four in the UK. The company creates centers from scratch, converts outpatient departments into stand-alone jointly run locations, and purchases existing facilities; contract management services are also available. Unity Health System brings together a host of health care services for the good people of Rochester, New York, and western Monroe County. The 680-bed system's main facility is Unity Hospital (what was Park Ridge Hospital until 2006). Its Unity St. Mary's Campus (formerly St. Mary's Hospital) offers a variety of community-based health care services, such as primary care clinics, dental offices, and urgent care services, as well as specialized psychiatric, rehabilitative, and cancer care, among other things. Unity St. Mary's also operates a nursing home and a senior living facility (known as Moore Park Apartments).

Universal Health Services, Inc. owns or leases about two dozen acute care hospitals with more than 6,000 total beds, as well as seven outpatient surgery centers, radiation therapy centers, and surgical hospitals. In addition to these medical facilities, UHS runs about 200 psychiatric and substance abuse hospitals. The company's facilities are located mainly in smaller towns and cities with limited competition, but it does have operations in some larger markets, including Las Vegas, Memphis, and Austin, Texas.

University Community Health company is a not-for-profit network of six hospitals in Florida's Tampa Bay area. Its three general hospitals -- two located in Tampa and one in nearby Tarpon Springs -- collectively house some 720 beds and provide emergency, surgical, and acute medical care, as well as provide outpatient services. The system also includes a specialty heart hospital, a women's hospital, and a long-term acute care hospital. University Community Health's name reflects its flagship facility's proximity to the University of South Florida. The company became part of the Adventist Health System in 2010.

University Community Hospital has some 430 beds at its acute-care facility. The hospital specializes in cancer treatment, diabetes management, orthopedics, pediatrics, and women's health. It offers such outpatient services as a sleep center, same-day surgery, and home health care. Located on the the campus is the Pepin Heart Hospital and Research Institute, a state-of-the-art cardiovascular care facility. Named for its proximity to and affiliation with the University of South Florida, the University Community Hospital opened in 1968. It is part of the University Community Health system, which was acquired by Adventist Health System in 2010.
