Here at MetroSouth Medical Center, our roots run deep in the Blue Island community. It began in 1905, when St. Francis Hospital opened its doors in a private residence on Gregory Street. Within weeks, that location was too small, and the hospital soon expanded to a capacity of 30 patients. Growing with the community for the next 103 years, St. Francis expanded its services and facilities, with major additions to the hospital in 1916 and 1948. Along the way, the hospital earned a national reputation as a leader in cardiovascular primary care.On July 30, 2008, a new chapter in the hospital’s history began with a rededication under new ownership and a new name. Today, MetroSouth Medical Center is located on a 12-acre campus in the heart of Blue Island’s uptown commercial business district. Miami Children's Hospital not-for-profit medical center has nearly 300 beds and offers more than 40 different health care specialties, including pediatric emergency care, cancer treatment, orthopedics, and rehabilitation services. The hospital's neonatal unit treats newborns referred from other hospitals. Miami Children's Hospital has a staff of some 650 physicians and operates the region's only free-standing pediatric trauma center. The hospital first opened its doors in the 1940s as Miami Tent #33 of Variety Clubs International. Variety Children's Hospital opened in 1950 and became Miami Children's Hospital in 1986.

Miami Valley Hospital formed in 1890, is part of the Premier Health Partners network. Miami Valley Hospital (MVH) is an acute care facility serving the residents of Dayton, Ohio, and surrounding areas through two campuses. MVH and MVH South have more than 800 beds and offer specialty care services through its Regional Adult Burn Center, the MVH Cancer Center, MVH Sports Medicine Center, and behavioral health units for outpatient and inpatient chemical dependency therapy and other psychiatric services. MidState Medical Center isn't lost in the middle. The acute care hospital serves central Connecticut and has some 145 beds (including six psychiatric beds). It offers patients a range of services including cardiac, emergency medicine, and maternity care. MidState Medical Center also has centers dedicated to diabetes, cancer treatment, digestive health, nutrition, and women's health. The hospital has been working hard to keep up with increasing demand for its services. It has built an addition to its campus that added emergency medical care services as well as opened a MidState Medical Services Building, to increase its outpatient care capacity.
